Dragons breath macro algae is one of the few truly display worthy in a reef alongside corals and fish, if you’re lucky enough they don’t eat it that is. Either way it is a beautiful thing to see as it sways back and forth in the current similar to an anemones tentacles. Bright red in color and slightly see through it gives the appearance of a high-quality fabric. Its edges are frayed and thus gives it the iconic name of dragons breath. Once established it can grow rapidly, however this can run iron levels low in the tank and cause the algae to die back. Make sure to test for iron and dose regularly as to keep parameters close to that of natural sea water.
