The OGA Granny Smith Favites is an elegent deep green color that still floureces well in all light types. Usually the deeper green colors dont “pop” as much but thats not the case with this coral it easily stands out in a crowd. It is a slower growing coral however regular feedings of meaty foods such as thawed mysis is always encouraged to spur growth.
Favites come in some of the most diversity that LPS corals have to offer, every color and shape is possible with these brains. Many times, you will see Favites still referred to as Favia, however there are only two recorded species of Favia and both come from protected waters in the Caribbean, so you’re likely to never encounter a true Favia. As far as care goes, they will fall in to your typical LPS requirements such as low to medium lighting (50-150 par) as well as low to moderate flow. These corals will accept a wide range of food and are generally good eaters. Feeding them will make an impact on their grown rates unlike some other corals and LPS pellet foods and meaty frozen foods like Mysis and brine are recommended to be fed about twice a week.
