The Green Tip Torch coral is a branching large polyp stony coral. The name is derived from the brightly colored tips of the tentacles that protrude far from its skeleton. These large fleshy polyps sway back and forth passively with the water current and provide great movement to the home aquarium. Similar to other Euphylliids in terms of temperament, the Torch Coral can be aggressive with long flowing sweeper tentacles. This strain has been cultured for years making the transition into a home aquarium much easier than a wild collected colony.
There should always be plenty of space between the Torch Coral and other corals or inverts as it can be aggressive with its tentacles. They thrive best with moderate lighting and moderate waterflow. The Torch Coral is popular, and for good reason as it is incredibly beautiful and an excellent coral for an intermediate aquarist looking to add some complexity and color into a reef tank.
