This is a classic Toadstool leather that has endured in the hobby for decades due to its intensely neon green polyps. Fast growing, super hardy and stunningly vibrant, the Neon Green Polyp Toadstool is a perfect coral for beginners and advanced aquarists alike. While it enjoys a good amount of variable flow and plenty of light, is forgiving enough to thrive in lower light and lower flow aquariums. Keep in mind as this coral grows its iconic toadstool shape, it will create increasingly more shade underneath, potentially making it difficult for nearby corals to grow.
This ORA Greenhouse grown coral has a very different lineage from our MIMF Green Polyp Leathers, grown in the ocean at our clam farm.
The Toadstool Leather shape is similar to a mushroom or plateau, with an extended stalk and curved crown. Numerous polyps will extend from the crown under the right conditions.
Soft Corals which are also known as Alcyonacea, is an order of corals which do not produce calcium carbonate skeletons, but instead have spiny skeletal elements called sclerites which give these corals some degree of support while giving their exterior a grainy or spike like texture that deters potential predators. They can also be found in a variety of unique shapes and beautiful colors.
Many Soft Corals will thrive in nutrient-rich waters and do not require intense amounts of light, making them extremely hardy. Almost all Soft Corals use symbiotic photosynthesizing zooxanthella as a major energy source, but will also readily eat any free floating food, such as zooplankton from the water column.
