Chalice corals come in a very wide range of growth patterns as well as shapes though they generally tend to form plates or “cups”. The name Chalice is a common name given to a few separate species of coral that resemble one another on first glance. Though once you have some experience with them it becomes apparent as to which fall where in the species list. They can be quite fast growing or very slow depending on conditions. Chalice corals do have a tendency to discolor similar to how acropora can brown out when being shipped or moved to new environments and will take some time to get their color back. this can take anywhere from a few weeks to months.
